My Clients

You know what you want. I’ll help with what you need.

Clients are the heart of my business. If they’re not happy, I’m not happy.

All too often, people can’t separate their personal wants from their professional needs. My job, by contrast, is to be objective in making that assessment.

I can’t promise I won’t argue with you. I can promise that the end product will be worth it.

Dr. Catherine Fisher Collins

“I’ve worked with Dr. Collins since 2004: First, as a public relations consultant for her successful Buffalo Board of Education campaign; later, since 2005, as an editor for her various textbooks prior to submission to her publisher. She’s gone from a School Board vice president to serving on the New York State Board of Regents … and I’m proud of my contribution to her career.” — MB

Charter School of Inquiry

“Facing an arduous process with New York State for our charter school renewal, we wanted to drum up positive community support for our school and the unique activities which represented our mission. As the only school in Western New York to embed African and African American history and culture into its curriculum all year long, we wanted to focus on that part of our work.

“We asked Melvin to write an article for The Challenger Community News, the preeminent newspaper in the African American community. He did a very thorough job … The Challenger article generated a great deal of excitement within the school, and many compliments from community members. … Melvin’s article was carefully researched, strategic in its focus, and effective in its publication. We have every reason to believe that our charter will be renewed. Melvin’s help was certainly a contributing factor.”

— Helene Kramer, founder and chair, Board of Trustees, of the Charter School of Inquiry

UB Office of University Communications

“I was recruited by UB’s Vice President for Communications, and asked whether I was interested in assisting his crew in writing press releases, as well as news articles for UBNow, the university’s online news source. Of COURSE I said ‘Yes!’

“I love the depth of this work, as it allows me to deepen the complexity, and broaden the scope, of my writing.” — MB

Whitney Swiss

“Mr. Melvin ‘Trey’ Bankhead supplied invaluable editing for my first novel, Forgotten Stories: In The Shadow of the Son of Man. He is quite conversant with all the odd grammatical and spelling vagaries that inhabit the English language. With his help, my story flowed much more smoothly; my publisher made few if any corrections to the text. He is an easy-going presence as well, which helped this somewhat anxious first-time writer.”   — Whitney Swiss

MTN Consulting

“Melvin has helped me on several projects. He is an excellent writer, editor, and collaborator. He handled challenging technical content quickly and professionally. As a former (full-time) journalist, he clearly knows the ins and outs of the business, and is willing to take time to explain. I look forward to working with Melvin again.”

— Matt Walker, founder, MTN Consulting

Marion G. Harmon

“Marion Harmon writes the adventures of superhero Hope Corrigan in the Wearing the Cape novels. I edited one of his books, as well as a shorter story, and am proud to have been responsible for a plot twist that, because I said, ‘You can’t wrap up that plot line so easily,’ ended up shocking and amazing his readers. I’m happy to say I’m a fan!” — MB

Laura J. Lonie Financial Coaching

“I highly recommend using Melvin Bankhead for all your editing and writing needs! have worked with him on numerous occasions. He has edited some of my blog posts at ljlonie.com and edited my material on my website. He edited and wrote the material for my brochure. At all times, he was extremely professional and did not judge me for my grammatical errors. All work was done timely. … I have gotten so many compliments on this brochure. I could not have achieved this professional writing level without Melvin.”
