Your will, your words, your deeds … they’re the tools with which you shape reality.

So, let's face it: Everyone wants to make an impact on this world.

Whether you’re a church that wants to draw people to an event, a business wanting customers to see the world you offer, a publisher whose reporters’ stories need some polish, or an author building a new universe, you use the same tools to draw people into your reality.

And like all tools, they need to be maintained and, on occasion, repaired.

That’s where I come in. I’ll help you polish the message you want to communicate. I’ll help you make sure that the reality you want to create is what the world sees.

Let me help you unleash your reality on the world.

About Me

Melvin “Trey” Bankhead III leads the company with over 25 years of experience in professional communications. He began his professional career in education, serving as a substitute teacher in English and Earth Science while working part-time as a syndicated columnist for Cox Newspapers. After a stint as editor of The Minority Voice newspaper in Greenville, N.C., he moved with his family to Buffalo, where he joined the Newsroom staff of The Buffalo News as a copy editor. During his 18-year tenure there, he added the roles of wire editor, night financial editor, pop culture writer, digital news editor, and layout editor to his resume.

While working at The Buffalo News, Bankhead also launched part-time careers in public relations and professional editing. As a public relations consultant, he helps his clients develop their strategic communications in order to improve outreach and increase public awareness. As a professional editor, he assists authors by guiding their writing and editing their manuscripts prior to publication.

In 2018, layoffs at The Buffalo News sparked Bankhead’s reinvention. He decided to take all of his experience and interests and use them to launch his own business. MB Ink Strategic Communications was born in early 2019.

Bankhead currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Buffalo Association of Black Journalists, and on the advisory board of Hilbert College’s Department of Digital Media and Communication.

In his free time, he enjoys Star Trek, reading, comic books, travel, and experimenting with multicultural recipes.

He has been happily married since 1993 to Dr. Ursuline R. Bankhead, assistant director of mental health and chief of psychology with the Veteran Affairs Western New York Healthcare System and an educational training consultant on diversity, equity, inclusion, and implicit bias. The couple has a daughter, Maia, a Kent State University graduate in Digital Media Production for Film who works as a post-production assistant for “America’s Got Talent.”
